Things that weigh on me: I love driving trips. I love hiking. Places I’ve never seen before always seem wonderfully mysterious to me. Like this place. I walked above it on Tuesday when I went for a short hike. The road that leads down to this little collection of houses bears a sign that says, “US Gov’t Property. No entry.”
WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? People obviously live here. There are bikes and toys and gardens. Does the government own these pretty little houses and rent them out to tenants? Did it buy them because they’re right below a dam? Have these people always lived here, but the gov’t bought their property because of flood danger? Maybe the damkeeper lives here. Is there such a thing as a damkeeper?! Like a lightkeeper for a dam?
 I NEED TO KNOW!
I will now think about this for the rest of my life. Only occasionally, though. I’m not crazy. (Much.)
(Also, random historical markers are my favorite. Love them.)
